Capital Audio Fest 2025: The Best Sounding Rooms
December 3, 2025Most loudspeakers impose a signature. Vivid Audio rejects this entirely. Its mission is transparency: to add nothing, subtract nothing, and let the music speak for itself. With a form so purposeful, so elegant, it transcends engineering and enters the realm of sculpture.

The Giya Cu is the third generation of Vivid Audio’s iconic Giya series, born from the mind of Laurence Dickie, the visionary behind the legendary Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus and recipient of a Queen’s Award for his contributions to audio. Every curve, every contour of the Giya Cu exists for a reason: to eliminate the resonances and reflections that obscure the truth of a recording. The result is a loudspeaker that doesn’t just disappear sonically but commands attention visually while delivering absolute transparency. When the technology is this refined, it vanishes. What remains is pure musical truth.
Watch Laurence Dickie give an overview of the Giya G2 Cu:
Form Born from Function
The Giya’s organic silhouette isn’t styling for its own sake. It’s the physical answer to an acoustic problem.
Curved surfaces eliminate the standing waves and diffractions that plague conventional box speakers. The distinctive tapered tubes, coiled elegantly within the G3 Cu and G4 Cu via innovative re-entrant absorbers, channel and dissipate rearward energy before it can pollute the forward sound. Stressed-skin enclosures of resin-infused glass and carbon fiber provide rigidity without mass, resonance control without compromise.

This is what happens when physics dictates aesthetics. The Giya Cu doesn’t look like other loudspeakers because it doesn’t think like other loudspeakers.
Technologies in Harmony
Beneath the sculptural exterior lies a suite of proprietary innovations, each designed to strip away coloration and reveal the music as it was meant to be heard:
- Tapered Tube Loading absorbs and dissipates energy behind each driver, eliminating internal reflections before they reach your ears.
- Catenary Dome Profiles distribute stress evenly across driver diaphragms, minimizing distortion at the source.
- Reaction-Canceling Drivers counteract mechanical forces, delivering bass that is tight, fast, and free of blur.
- Super-Flux Magnets provide the precise control needed for effortless dynamics.
- Aerodynamically Enhanced Ports ensure smooth, turbulence-free airflow.
Every element works in concert. Nothing is arbitrary.
Copper: The Heart of a New Generation
The “Cu” in the name is the periodic symbol for copper, and it signifies the most meaningful evolution in this generation. Copper-capped upper and lower midrange drivers, first developed for Vivid’s flagship Moya M1, now grace the entire Giya Cu range.
These copper caps reduce second and third harmonic distortion dramatically, the latter by an extraordinary 20 dB. The sonic rewards are immediate: a midrange of crystalline clarity, a soundstage that breathes with lifelike presence, and bass that feels more controlled, more articulate, more real.
Refined for the Cu Generation
Beyond the copper-capped drivers, the Giya Cu introduces thoughtful refinements throughout:
- Redesigned crossover networks for seamless integration across the frequency spectrum
- Individual Moya-style grilles that echo the flagship aesthetic
- Easier-access terminals for simplified setup and cable management
Handcrafted in Durban
Each Giya Cu is built by hand at Vivid Audio’s facility in Durban, South Africa, by a team of 35 skilled artisans. Drivers, crossovers, enclosures: every component is designed and manufactured in-house. This isn’t mass production. It’s craft at the highest level, with quality control that only vertical integration can provide.
The Giya Cu Range
Four models, one philosophy. Each shares a four-way, five-driver architecture, scaling gracefully to suit different spaces:
- Giya G1 Spirit Cu / $115,000 per pair
- Giya G2 Cu / $65,000 per pair
- Giya G3 Cu / $47,000 per pair
- Giya G4 Cu / $38,000 per pair
Standard finishes include Piano Black, Pearl White, and Oyster Grey Matte. Custom colors are available in any PPG automotive paint finish for those who wish to make a bolder statement.
Experience the Giya Cu
For those who believe that how something looks should reflect how deeply it’s been considered, and for those who refuse to compromise on sonic truth, the Giya Cu awaits.
