This low-power server delivers reference-level performance in a compact design, featuring proprietary technologies that effortlessly uncover hidden details.
The Quark Music Streaming Server takes everything Synergistic Research learned engineering the Voodoo and concentrates it into a compact, low-power architecture that changes what’s possible at this price point. A smaller chassis. Simplified circuitry. A refined power supply. And an improved ULF antenna implementation that pushes the technology further than the original Voodoo design.
The result is a streaming server that, when outfitted with identical cables, performs remarkably close to the full-size Voodoo. Not close for its size. Not close for its price. Close, period.
This isn’t a scaled-down Voodoo. It’s a fundamentally rethought one.
Less Power. Less Noise. More Music.
In digital audio, power is the enemy of purity. Every watt a computer draws generates electrical noise that contaminates the signal path. High-performance CPUs, complex motherboards, and power-hungry components all add thermal and electromagnetic interference that no amount of downstream filtering can fully undo. The most advanced audiophile servers in the world have arrived at the same conclusion: the quietest server is the one that draws the least power.
The Quark’s low-power architecture embraces this principle from the ground up. By selecting a simplified motherboard and lower-power processing platform, the Quark dramatically reduces internally generated noise at the source. This isn’t a compromise. It’s a strategic advantage. Fewer active components mean a shorter, cleaner path from storage to output. A simplified power supply means less conversion noise and fewer regulation stages between the wall and the circuit. The result is a digital transport where the music emerges from a background so black it redefines what you thought your DAC was capable of.
ULF Generator
The Quark features an improved ULF antenna and implementation that advances the technology originally developed for the Voodoo. This next-generation ULF circuit addresses ambient RF noise that degrades digital circuits, synchronizing the electromagnetic environment to the Earth’s Schumann Resonance for a dramatic reduction in high-frequency hash and digital compression.
Three selectable ULF frequencies let you voice the Quark to your system, your room, and the music you’re listening to:
Blue (Default): Linear note transitions from low to high frequencies with a relaxed midrange. Large, enveloping soundstage. The natural starting point for most systems and recordings.
Green: Slightly more forward midrange presence with added bass weight. A compelling alternative for systems that benefit from additional warmth and density.
Red: Optimized for recordings mastered with significant phase information and holographic soundstaging. Electronic, ambient, and large-scale orchestral recordings take on surreal three-dimensional depth.
These settings don’t color the music or alter the data stream. They reshape the ambient RF environment surrounding the circuit, and the audible difference is immediate.
Electromagnetic Conditioning
The Quark inherits the same patented EM Cell technology deployed across Synergistic Research’s PowerCell line conditioners, Active Ground Blocks, and the full Voodoo digital ecosystem. Developed and refined over fifteen years, EM Cells condition the Quark’s internal DC power supply and computer circuitry, targeting noise at the source before it can reach the signal path.
Within the Quark’s compact chassis, EM Cells project an electromagnetic field that filters and redirects contaminants while preserving the integrity of the digital signal. The result is a lower noise floor, greater resolution, and the kind of effortless, uncompressed presentation that separates reference digital from everything else.
Ground Architecture
Digital circuits are especially vulnerable to ground-plane contamination. Timing errors, jitter, and low-level noise artifacts that compromise spatial accuracy and tonal resolution all trace back to compromised grounding. The Quark addresses this with multi-layer UEF Ground Plane technology, working in concert with its EM Cells to establish a clean, stable reference point for the entire digital circuit.
The Quark’s low-power architecture compounds this advantage. Lower power draw means less internally generated noise flowing through the ground path, giving the Ground Plane technology a quieter foundation to work with. The result is one of the blackest backgrounds we’ve achieved in a digital component at any price, revealing low-level detail and spatial cues that typically remain buried beneath the noise floor.
For even greater performance, the Quark can be connected to a Synergistic Research Active Ground Block through a dedicated ground connection. This optional upgrade further lowers the noise floor and improves low-frequency weight and definition, extending the Quark’s ground architecture into your broader system topology.
Roon Core and Bridge

The Quark runs Roon software, delivering a rich, metadata-driven listening experience with intuitive library management, artist biographies, lyrics, and seamless integration with Qobuz, Tidal, and local file libraries. A Roon account is required.
For the highest possible digital audio quality, pair a Quark with a Voodoo or a second Quark, dedicating one unit as the Roon Core Server and the other as the Roon endpoint. Separating core processing from audio output eliminates the sonic penalties of running both functions on a single device, allowing each unit to focus exclusively on its task. This dual-server architecture is the same approach used in the flagship Voodoo configuration, and the Quark makes it accessible at a fraction of the investment.
Mechanical Architecture
The Quark takes form in a smaller, half-width to three-quarter-width chassis machined from the same low-resonance materials found across Synergistic Research’s active component line. CNC-machined aircraft aluminum and carbon fiber eliminate vibrational feedback between chassis and circuit, while the entire enclosure acts as a passive heat sink. No fans. No moving parts. No acoustic interference with your listening environment.
The compact form factor isn’t just an aesthetic decision. It’s a direct consequence of the low-power architecture. A processor that draws less power generates less heat, which means the chassis can be smaller while maintaining the same thermal headroom as the full-size Voodoo. Every dimension serves the design.
Stronger Together.
The Quark is engineered to perform as a standalone streaming server. It’s also engineered to scale.
Quark + Voodoo: Use the Voodoo as your Roon Core Server and the Quark as your dedicated endpoint. The Voodoo handles library management and processing while the Quark focuses exclusively on audio output, delivering the cleanest possible signal to your DAC.
Quark + Quark: Two Quarks operating as a dedicated core/endpoint pair deliver reference-level separation at a combined investment well below a dual-Voodoo configuration.
Both configurations benefit from the complete Synergistic Research digital ecosystem, including the Ethernet Switch UEF Mk II, Network Router UEF, and our full line of digital cables. Each additional component in the chain applies the same UEF technology and Six Pillars framework, compounding the performance gains across the entire signal path.
