It is a 2M length, terminated with Shunyata’s proprietary SR-USB connectors (Type A to Type B) with gold-plated copper contacts. The cable is in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The standard length for this cable is 1.5M; the 2M length carries a premium and is less commonly available on the used market. Retail on this 2M length is approximately $4,200.

The Omega-X USB is the absolute top of Shunyata’s digital cable hierarchy. It is the cable that Robert Harley singled out as possibly the most outstanding product Shunyata has ever made, which is a striking statement given the company’s catalog. In practice, what this cable does to a USB connection between a streamer or server and a DAC is remove the things that make digital sound like digital. The chalky, slightly grainy texture that haunts even very good USB implementations simply goes away, replaced by a smoothness and liquidity that closes the gap with the best analog sources. The Shunyata Omega-X USB is the current flagship USB cable from Shunyata Research and the finest digital cable of any type the company has ever produced. It is the evolution of the original Omega USB, which itself improved upon the Sigma USB (The Absolute Sound’s 2019 Product of the Year) and the Alpha USB (HiFi+’s 2019 Product of the Year). The Omega-X employs a four-conductor proprietary design using OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) copper conductors in Shunyata’s PMZ (Precision Matched Z) geometry, where extrusion and braiding machines run at one-quarter speed to hold conductor surface, dielectric thickness, and shield precision to minute variances, ensuring consistent 90-ohm characteristic impedance. The cable features dual shielding (foil and braid), PE dielectric, and a dedicated power conductor designed specifically for DC power transfer to minimize signal interference. The Omega-X incorporates 71 TAPc (Transverse Axial Polarizer) elements, Shunyata’s patent-pending passive electromagnetic polarizer technology, along with redesigned CMode filters for common-mode noise reduction. Each cable undergoes eight days of KPIP v2 processing, double the four-day treatment used on the Sigma-X series, refining conductor metals at a molecular level. Termination uses Shunyata’s proprietary SR-USB connectors with gold-plated copper contacts, a large-diameter headshell for strain relief, and robust construction designed for long-term reliability.
