I own Bliss Hifi, a high-end audio boutique based in Minnesota. These Sonus faber Serafino G2 loudspeakers are in on consignment from one of my clients, who is the original owner. He purchased them new in November 2023 from University Audio in Madison, Wisconsin. They are the wenge finish, which is the most beautiful and most requested finish for the Serafino and rarely comes up on the used market. The speakers are in excellent, like-new condition and in perfect working order. Local auditions are welcome in my Chanhassen, MN showroom.

The speakers come with all original accessories, paperwork, and double boxes. Footers and grilles are included but not pictured.

The Serafino G2 is the speaker that best represents what Sonus faber does well. It has the tonal warmth and midrange beauty the brand is known for, but the G2 update gives it a grip and transparency that the original Serafino did not quite have. Voices and acoustic instruments carry real body and texture, the kind of natural timbre that makes strings sound like wood and rosin rather than a reproduction of them. Bass is deep and well articulated for a cabinet of this size, and the new Intono technology plays a real role in why the midrange sounds so clean: by managing pressure behind the midrange driver, Sonus faber was able to remove parts from the crossover, and what you hear is a more direct, more dynamic presentation. At 90dB sensitivity and an amplifier range of 50 to 300 watts, the Serafino G2 works with a wide range of tube and solid-state electronics, which makes it easy to build a system around. Then there is the cabinet. The lute-shaped enclosure is built from layered natural wood, finished by hand, and in wenge the grain reads as deep and dark with a warmth that photographs never fully capture. This is a speaker that looks like a piece of fine furniture and sounds like live music in the room. A local audition is the best way to experience that, and you are welcome to schedule one.

The Sonus faber Serafino G2 is a three-way, four-driver floorstanding loudspeaker from the Homage Collection, handcrafted at Sonus faber’s factory in Vicenza, Italy. It is named for Santo Serafino, the 18th-century Venetian luthier, and its cabinet follows Sonus faber’s lute-shaped profile, which reduces parallel internal surfaces and the standing waves they create. The cabinet is constructed from multiple layers of matched natural wood, hand-finished with multiple coats of lacquer. The tweeter is a 28mm silk soft dome with Sonus faber’s DAD (Damped Apex Dome) Arrow Point technology, which damps the apex of the dome to prevent anti-phase behavior, loaded into a wooden rear chamber that absorbs unwanted resonance. The 150mm midrange driver uses a natural-fiber cone blending cellulose pulp with kapok and kenaf, driven by a neodymium motor with a shorter, wider voice coil for greater force factor and control. Two woofers handle the low frequencies, updated for the G2 with a new voice coil and spider material for greater air movement and extension. The midrange is housed in its own enclosure using Sonus faber’s Intono technology, which tunes the midrange chamber and equalizes pressure into an alternate chamber to reduce impedance peaks, lightening the load on the amplifier and allowing for a simpler crossover. The crossover is a phase-coherent, time-aligned design using hand-selected Jantzen inductors, Clarity Cap and Mundorf capacitors, and Mundorf resistors, hand-soldered on custom circuit boards. Updated internal bracing and porting improve efficiency and output while maintaining resonance control. Frequency response is 30Hz to 35kHz. Sensitivity is 90dB SPL (2.83V/1m). Nominal impedance is 4 ohms. Recommended amplifier power is 50 to 300 watts, tube or solid state. Available in wenge, red, and graphite.
