The unit comes with the StromTank-supplied 20A power cable. Original box is not available, but the unit will be packed securely for safe transit.

The sequential power-on function is the first thing that sets it apart: a microprocessor-controlled switching sequence powers each outlet with a time delay, preventing the harmful inrush current spikes that occur when multiple components are energized simultaneously. Beyond the protection, every outlet is fitted with rhodium-plated pure copper contacts and StromTank’s DDS (Digital Distortion Suppression) filtering, which prevents high-frequency noise generated by digital components from feeding back into the AC line and contaminating analog gear sharing the same distribution. The stainless steel and aluminum/magnesium housing provides thorough shielding against radio frequency interference. The SEQ-5 works beautifully as a standalone distributor fed by a high-quality power cord from the wall, but it was designed as the natural companion to StromTank’s battery-powered generators, extending their clean output to multiple components. The StromTank SEQ-5 is a reference-grade power distribution bar designed and manufactured in Berlin, Germany by StromTank, the company founded by Wolfgang Meletzky (also founder of the high-end audio company MBL). “SEQ” stands for sequential, referring to the unit’s microprocessor-controlled sequential power-on function that switches each outlet with a time delay to protect connected components against harmful inrush current spikes. The sequential switching is managed by high-performance NCM (nickel-chromium-molybdenum) relays controlled by PIC 16F family microchips, capable of handling 16A of current per outlet. The SEQ-5 features five custom-made US receptacles, all oriented upward for easy cable routing, with pure rhodium-plated copper contacts. All five outlets incorporate StromTank’s DDS (Digital Distortion Suppression) filtering, which suppresses the backflow of high-frequency noise from digital components into the AC line, preventing interference with other connected equipment. An alternate version is available with one DDS-filtered outlet and four “pure” (unfiltered) outlets for systems with a larger analog front end. The AC inlet accepts up to 2000W at 120V (2800W at 230V) and includes Nano Crystal Formula contacts and a 6.3 x 32mm Slo-Blo fuse for protection. The housing is constructed from stainless steel with aluminum and magnesium for effective radio frequency shielding and mechanical damping. A built-in phase tester is included for verifying correct polarity. The SEQ-5 functions as a standalone power distributor or as the companion distribution piece to StromTank’s battery-powered generators (S-1000, S-2500, S-4000, S-5000), extending their clean battery power to multiple components.
