I own Bliss Hifi, a high-end audio boutique based in Minnesota. This Trinnov Altitude 16 AV processor is in on consignment from one of my local clients. The unit was originally purchased in 2020, so unfortunately no warranty remains, but it is in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This processor was the brain of a 16-channel home theater system that has been taken down as the client prepares to move to a new home. Several other components from this same system are also available, including McIntosh amplifiers.
The unit comes with its original box, remote control, accessories, and a high-quality aftermarket boom mic stand for precision calibration with Trinnov’s proprietary 3D microphone.
The Altitude 16 is the processor that professional studio engineers, custom installers, and serious home theater enthusiasts gravitate toward when nothing else will do. It is not the easiest processor to set up, and it is not the cheapest. What it is, without qualification, is the most capable and best-sounding immersive audio processor available at anything close to its price point. The Trinnov Optimizer is in a class by itself when it comes to room correction. Where most processors apply basic EQ curves and call it done, Trinnov’s patented 3D microphone maps each speaker’s exact position in three-dimensional space and then uses that data to remap the sound field so that what you hear matches what the mixing engineer intended, regardless of where your speakers are actually placed. That remapping capability alone justifies the price of entry. The sound quality through the 16 balanced XLR outputs is reference-grade, and because the entire platform runs on software rather than fixed DSP chips, Trinnov has been able to deliver substantial upgrades over the years, including the “+4” expansion from 16 to 20 channels, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, and Roon Ready support, all via firmware updates. This is a processor you buy once and keep for a very long time. The included aftermarket boom mic stand makes the calibration process significantly easier and more repeatable than trying to position the microphone by hand.
Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for your consideration.
Check my stellar feedback and buy with confidence. This listing includes free insured shipping across the CONUS. As this is a passthrough sale that I am brokering on behalf of my client, I prefer to accept payments via PayPal F&F, Venmo Gift, or personal check, but this also gives you the opportunity to attain this at my lowest possible price. More about the unit:
The Trinnov Altitude 16 is a reference-grade immersive audio AV processor designed and manufactured in France. It shares the same processing platform and sound quality as the flagship Altitude 32, distilled into a 16-channel output configuration that can be expanded to 20 discrete channels via the “+4” software feature (using the Toslink and coaxial S/PDIF outputs for the additional four channels). The processor runs on a Linux-based software suite powered by a multicore Intel i3 processor, rather than traditional fixed-function DSP chips, which allows Trinnov to deliver major feature upgrades via firmware updates without hardware changes.
The Altitude 16 decodes and renders Dolby Atmos (up to 20 channels with any speaker layout), DTS:X Pro (introduced to the consumer market through Trinnov’s collaboration with DTS), and Auro-3D (up to 13.1 channels), with the Auro-Matic upmixer available on all inputs. It natively processes high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz audio with no sample rate conversion. The processor supports any speaker layout within its channel count, including multiple side surround speakers and any number of subwoofer outputs. Up to four-way active crossovers are supported for use with active loudspeaker systems.
Trinnov’s patented Loudspeaker/Room Optimizer, originally developed for professional studio use and now deployed in nearly 2,000 studios and 10,000 installations worldwide, provides the most powerful and flexible room calibration system available. The proprietary 3D microphone precisely maps each speaker’s distance, azimuth, and elevation, and the exclusive Remapping technology uses this data to redirect errant sounds to their intended positions using adjacent speakers and stereo imaging principles. The bass management system allows complete flexibility in crossover frequencies, filter types, slopes, and subwoofer routing, including intermediate bass management that redirects low frequencies from smaller height speakers to the nearest full-range speaker before sending the lowest content to subwoofers.
Connectivity includes eight HDMI 2.0 inputs (18Gbps, HDCP 2.2) and two HDMI 2.0 outputs (eARC on output 1), supporting 4K/60Hz passthrough with 4:4:4 color subsampling, BT.2020 wide color gamut, and HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. Digital audio inputs include dual coaxial S/PDIF and dual optical Toslink, with one output of each type. Analog inputs include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA stereo pairs. All 16 outputs are balanced XLR. The processor supports Control4, AMX, Crestron, Savant, and RTI control systems via IP or RS-232, and is Roon Ready and UPnP compatible. The HDMI board is designed to be upgradable to HDMI 2.1. The front panel features a brushed aluminum faceplate with a 4-inch display and minimal controls. The unit includes a remote control and Trinnov’s proprietary 3D calibration microphone.
